Wednesday Jul 08, 2020
Wednesday Jul 08, 2020
Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.
This week is a week I have been waiting for, it marks for me the official start of business for the second half of 2020. A year that will go down in the history books as one of the most challenging in history. Real Estate seaport COVID has been flourishing and with an underbelly of “clients and safety first” but with a heart full of gusto I believe it’s time to make 2020 the best business year of your career.
Refuse to let the negative in and commit to only pumping out as much positivity as is humanly possible.
Get back to work, make this your best year yet, and tune in to this week's episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur.
Golden Nuggets from this episode
[02:43] "what July the sixth is for me, is the new beginning, It's almost like January the first 2020."
[03:10] "I've been speaking to lots of agents doing transactions and escrow officers, things are really, really moving."
[03:18] "Back in the old days, when people were going into battle, they had to wear armor or have a sword and maybe a mace and all these other gadgets that they had to protect themselves. We are exactly the same."
[04:34] "I fully intend to make 2020 my personal best year that I've ever done because I will not allow the negative energy to crush me."
[04:53] “This won't continue forever. We've got another reprieve and real estate interest rates are crushingly low, so we need to seize the moment. Let's not pause. Let's be safe. Let's get out there. Let's hunt down the deals.”
[05:35] "I'm not being a naysayer of negativity, but the market can't keep going at this speed. People always think the music's never going to end, the music will end. Doesn't mean the crash doesn't mean like we're gonna see house prices drop, it just means he cannot sustain going at this speed forever"

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.
How do we go back to work aggressively, in service, and safely?
It has been a devastating time, and I think many of us have chosen to view this as a reset.
Much like in 2008-09.
In 2008-09, I'd been in real estate for a few years. I was just getting my grip. And then the crash came. And when it happened, we all had the same feeling that we did a couple of months ago.
And here's what happened a little over a decade ago: it was about the pivot. When an event occurs, we can rebel against it or we can adapt. If we adapt and evolve, we flourish.
Read this before you go further: safety first. For everyone.
There are knowns and unknowns, but those that pivot will prevail.
Interest rates are the lowest they've been in history. And most of the buyers that are out are the serious ones. And, we don't know what's going to happen in a few months.
I always imagine the home is mine when working with a seller, and in many cases right now, I'd say "put it on the market".
Get back to work, pivot, stay safe, and tune in to this week's episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur.
Golden Nuggets from this episode:
[03:11]” When an event occurs or evolution happens, maybe it could be argued that this is evolution, right? The evolution of commerce in the world has been forever changed. So we can rile against it and say: -"no, no, no, no. I'm just going to wait until it goes back to how it was". Or, we can adapt.”
[05:13] ”I still have clients, even though I own the brokerage, I'd like to have boots on the ground. I'd like to be in the trenches with my agents."
[07:21] "There are probably 50% of the buyers that were out in January and February. I imagine that will last until August when I think 75% of the buyers will be back out."
[09:57] “We're not doing open houses. The buyers that are out are legit."
[12:12] "I am worried about it coming back because flu season is just a few short months away. So if your sellers want to try and time the market, it is a big fat unknown from October on is a big fat unknown."

Whats next 2020?!? / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast
Wednesday Jun 17, 2020
Wednesday Jun 17, 2020
Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.
This one's about the rest of 2020 and what I'm going to do on July 6th to create change, pour myself out for others, and grind.
If you're in real estate or finance, you may want to listen to this one.
Yes, we have to take precautions and we must be safe. But we can do all that AND still work our asses off. Not only that, we must.
So that Monday following July 4th, I'm kicking it into high gear. I'm going to do my bit, and work to be of service for anyone that crosses my path.
Dinner really does taste better with friends; we must come together. We must peer into the eyes of those around us and charge together towards a common goal of unity and giving.
Hold a beautiful thought. Make it your goal. Share what you have. Help someone else. We're all in this together. Listen in to this week's podcast for more.
Golden Nuggets from this episode:
[02:02] “I think even the most ambivalent of citizens is now questioning the system.”
[04:34] “All of us who have been touched by what's going on, many of us were going to vote this way anyway, but we all have a voice, we all have a vote, we live in a beautiful democratic society, where we can all contribute to change.”
[04:52] “I don't love paying taxes, but I don't mind paying taxes because I love America, and I want to put my money back into the infrastructure.”
[05:39] “ Ironically, out of a moment where we were forced apart, we were forced to isolate spiritually, we have come together as a nation, and I want to double down on that, ironically, out of a moment where we were forced apart, we were forced to isolate, spiritually we have come together as a nation, and I want to double down on that, I want to triple down on it, despite what's going on.”
[07:58] “Our job is to get up and give, and then the rest of it, nothing to do with us.”
[09:18] “We're a big, massive 300 million people community in the United States. And then, of course, 8 billion on the planet. Let's just help each other a bit more. Let's share more. There's plenty for everyone. It's a beautiful place. Let's make it even more beautiful.”

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.
This chat with Dan Lesniak, author and real estate professional, is all about how NOT to be a squirrel.
Find a model, stick with it, and watching it work.
Here's how Dan does it:
Pick an area to dominate, and make sure it's big enough to be worth going after. And then drill down on it.
I'm here for that model. It's all about niching down and really, borderline obsessing over it.
Execute, take in feedback, adjust, and tweak.
Get it going in the right direction. You don't have to know all the answers on day one, but you have to start. And as you begin, analyze and refine along the way.
His number one productivity tip is to start your day right. Wake up and get ready for the day. Dan rises around 4 or 5 in the morning, gets his biggest tasks out of the way, works out, and spends time with his kids. All before 9 am.
I learned a lot from Dan, and think you'll soak in some of these juicy tips as well. A great one to get yourself amped up as you navigate a different kind of normal.
Golden nuggets from this episode:
[08:26] “if you mail someone a letter, no matter how creative you are with like the fake hand-writing and all that kind of stuff that you can get now, like people can kind of like sniff it out, but if you put it in an unmarked envelope, they immediately think it's like a neighbor or a friend that just dropped something by, so I think the open rates are a lot higher.” - Dan Lesniak
[17:49] “...if the organization is just you, that's fine, but get it moving in the right direction and then analyze and refine the course along the way, one of the examples I like to talk about to illustrate this is from my submarine days when you're taking the boat to periscope depth, it's a fairly dangerous time, you're underwater, you're using sonar to figure out what's out there and you stick the scope up and you don't want to hit anything. All right. So the first thing you do is kind of like do a 360-degree sweep, make sure that the visual texture matches what you thought the sonar is, and if something's wrong, you gotta order a turn to the helmsmen and it's, either left or right, but if you sit there and try to figure out the perfect course, you're wasting time that it takes to get the ship moving in the right direction. So the important thing is to like recognize the general direction you needed to go give the order, get moving there and then refine it along the way, and I think more people need to take that approach, with real estate and, and just business or anything in general.” - Dan Lesniak
[19:11] “You spend 50% of your time learning how to do it, and then 50% doing it” - Peter Lorimer (Francis Ford Coppola)
[19:37] “Nothing makes you a better musician than:- you have a gig, it’s 9 o’clock you’re standing on stage and there’s an audience out there. That is when you learn your craft” - Peter Lorimer

Never, Never, Never Give In / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast
Wednesday May 27, 2020
Wednesday May 27, 2020
Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.
We're under siege. But we should never, ever give in.
Much like Britain in the midst of WWII, we've found ourselves fighting a terrible enemy. And I for one, will not give in to fear.
I recently ran across William Churchill's speech during this time, and it reinstilled in me this: I refuse to yield to fear.
As we all navigate what it looks like to return to work safely, remember that fear should never, ever navigate our decisions.
Let's work hard, and if we're going to give in to anything, let's give into service, kindness, and compassion.
If you're ready to slowly reenter and get back to work, this one's a great listen to get you fired up and confident for what's to come.
Golden Nuggets from this episode:
[02:31] “Yes, I'm scared of COVID, we're all scared of COVID like I'm scared of a tiger, but I'm not going to be in fear of COVID, right? This doesn't mean I'm going to be risky, but I'm not just going to be shut up in my home. I'm gonna support the local economy, I'm gonna support local restaurants. I'm gonna support Los Angeles vendors whenever I possibly can, and I encourage you to do the same, but fear shall not be the navigator of this spiritual compass.” - Peter Lorimer
[05:18] “Do not let us speak of darker days. These are not dark days. These are great days. The greatest days our country has ever lived. We must all thank God that we have been allowed, each of us, according to our stations, to play a part in making these days memorable in the history of our nation.” - Winston Churchill speech
[06:17] “With each challenge, we adapt and we evolve. And if that means we need to wear masks and we need to wear gloves and we need to have social distancing and you know, have gatherings no bigger than two or three or whatever the number is, then we do it. But I have to contribute. I can't just be a wilting flower and watch the world go by.” - Peter Lorimer
[08:33] “ I am done being fearful. I will be cautious. I will be helpful, but I will work my ass off as much as I possibly can, even if that means I need to do it remotely for the next six months.” - Peter Lorimer

Golden Nuggets from this episode:
[04:23] “For me the problem with real estate marketing, for the most part is it’s all horrible” -Peter Lorimer
[06:25] “While we seem like a real estate company or we seem like a tech company, we are actually a strategy company.” - Rebecca Rose
[10:57] “You have to go beyond just bread and butter listed content, you have be willing to level up your game.” - Nir Betan
[26:32] “I love you and I hate you, do you know how long it took me to learn photoshop?” - Peter Lorimer

[29:25] “We are living in a very competitive era right now in real estate, there’s a lot of change going on in the industry and a lot of conversations, but I think ate the end of the day if you can make something which is human and emotional connects you with people, your gonna win every time.” - Nir Betan

As we trudge through this crisis and towards a hopeful and new normal, let's not let this opportunity to reset slip through our fingers.
While, yes, there's business to be done, there's also a life to live. Yours, in particular.
And I think, if you use these spare moments to dive into what you love about yours, you'll come out of this better for it.
What was once important may not be as important because we've been forced to stay home and stare it all straight in the face.
In this podcast, I share a rather personal story from my wedding that changed the trajectory of my life forever.
Don't fight the reset. As tragic as all this is, let's dive in and use these moments to be changed and be better.
Listen to this episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur as I dive into practical ways to embrace the reset as well as rather personal anecdotes that have helped me charge through this time.
Golden Nuggets from this episode:
[01:49] “I think we have had a global social reset, we've had a reset to values, we've had a reset to what exactly is important to us, we've had a reset of how and what our business means to us in the grand scheme of our lives.”
[03:20] “So what we do with the kids is we put music on from that country, it might be Vietnam, it might be Italy, it might be Spain, and she cooks a dish and we put the music on, we feel like we're in a restaurant, we talk about it, and we call it a dinner table around the world, and we joke about it.”
[06:48] “I then realized what was better for me during quarantine was to actually sit down and make copious notes, which I've done in my lots and lots of moleskin books and strategize about where I'm going and not worry about the present, because at the end of the day, you've heard me say this a million times. I live in Los Angeles. I live in the United States, which I think is the best country in the world. I am going to be fine.”
[07:30] “But for those of us who it hasn't hurt yet, and God forbid it ever does, let's utilize this time. Let's stop. Let's pause. Let's enjoy the moment to refocus for the rest of our lives.”
[08:02] “I've been married 16 years and I can remember that moment like it was yesterday because it was a moment where I discovered the pause.”

Life After Covid, Day One / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast
Wednesday May 06, 2020
Wednesday May 06, 2020
Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.
There's still a lot to trudge through, but I really believe that we're seeing the beginning footsteps of optimism.
And in this week's podcast, I rant and rave about how we can take our own steps as well.
For that to stay on the right track, we all need to proverbially + digitally join hands and stay safe... making sure that we're following protocols and protecting ourselves and others.
But, while we do all that, I think we can get back to work.
We can get back to our databases. We can get back to reaching out to our clients and prospects via video (Loom and BombBomb).
Let's reactivate those databases. Let's reactivate those full-time working days. And let's reactivate serving.
Give, give, give... positivity (if you have it), knowledge, and value.
Let's collectively do our parts in pulling out of this. It may be a while, but we're not alone.
Listen in to this week's episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur for motivation and practical tips on how to get started.
Golden Nuggets from this episode:
[02:31] “ I feel like I'm in a ship and in the distance I can see land. We're going to be pulling into port and we're going to be pulling into port pretty soon.”
[03:23] “We now need to reactivate our databases.”
[04:21] “I act as if it's already happened.”
[05:34] “There are going to be a lot of folks and a lot of businesses that are irreparably damaged by this catastrophe, but I want to do my part to support the American economy by getting off my ass and doing something.”
[06:38] “ I do feel with a very, very, very optimistic thread that pumps through my veins that it is optimism, optimism, optimism, not blind optimism, but I refuse to kind of wait anymore.”

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.
Real estate agents, buyers, and sellers are wondering what a world post-COVID looks like, and how to prepare for it.
On the west coast, there's a concerted effort for us to figure a way out of this. Gentle, small footsteps on the road to optimism.
We are trying to figure a way out of this disaster.
And a question I've been getting a lot is, "How do we prepare for the market post-COVID?"
I really like this question. So much so that I had to cover it in this week's podcast. Also, because I'm never one to rest on my laurels. I'm not one to wait around. I feel rest in staying in action.
Of course, we must respect and follow the guidelines of the California Association of Realtors.
So, how do you prepare for what's ahead? I find it best to put myself in the mind of my buyers and sellers. I pretend their house is actually my house - and I act accordingly.
I've heard a subtle rise of agent chatter, I've spotted more houses on the market, and I've watched a slight increase in escrows...it feels like we're dipping our toes towards a way out of this.
We're beginning to thaw out.
And when it comes to preparing your clients - data first, always. Let the data talk. We're in a better place now than we were two weeks ago.
Above all, stay the course. Keep your spiritual compass pointing due north. Fear is a navigator, but let the light and let service guide you.
Bonus: We do not have to do it alone. Listen to this podcast and get prepared with me.
Golden Nuggets from this episode:
[02:30] “I’ve always put my mind in the mind of my buyers and of my sellers and I pretended that their house is actually my house.”
[03:28] “It feels here today that Los Angeles is beginning not to turn the corner but the very first footstep on the road to optimism has been placed.”
[04:00] “I always let the data be the driver.”
[05:50] “Video for me is the quickest route to remind people of why they like you.”
[07:17] “fear is also a navigator, and we just cannot listen to that fear, we must always listen to service.”
[09:00] “The crash in 2008, 09 and 10 came from the financial industry out.”
